Hunger Has Reached Catastrophic Levels in GAz
2 years have now passed since the tragic events of October 7th, 2023.
Although time has passed, the situation remains unchanged. In fact, it’s worsened substantially.
More than 2.1 million people in Gaza face extreme hunger.
Hospitals are overwhelmed with malnourished children, mothers, and the elderly, while food and medicine have nearly vanished. Families trapped in Gaza are fighting for survival each day with nothing left to eat, no safe water to drink, and no way to protect their loved ones.
The IPC has declared a famine in the Gaza Governorate area since August 2025.
This is not just a crisis it’s a catastrophe beyond imagination.
“A severely malnourished baby lies in a hospital bed, barely able to drink from a bottle held by gloved hands.”
-Palestine Red Crescent Society
Every day, families go days without food, mothers skip meals so their children can survive, and the elderly collapse from exhaustion and hunger.
The Situation in Gaza & Lebanon
After nearly two years of conflict, Gaza’s infrastructure is 70% destroyed.
Electricity, water, healthcare, and sanitation have collapsed. Safe zones now cover less than 12% of the Strip, and 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced.
In Lebanon, the crisis has deepened as the country struggles to feed thousands of displaced Palestinian families amid its own economic breakdown.
Food prices have soared beyond reach even a loaf of bread is now a luxury for many.
The UN warns:
“Without immediate and sustained humanitarian assistance, widespread death is imminent. This is a test of our shared humanity, one we cannot afford to fail.”
Why Hot Meals Matter Now More Than Ever
After water, food is the next most essential resource for survival. Before shelter, before clothing, before medicine, food is the first and most urgent need.
After 11 weeks of aid suspension, malnutrition has skyrocketed — with babies and toddlers suffering irreversible effects.
Doctors describe the tragedy as a “crisis for generations to come.”
At Muslims Around The World (MATW), we believe no one should face hunger alone.
Through our Hot Meals Campaign, we’re delivering freshly prepared, nutritious meals to families in Gaza and Lebanon — especially the most vulnerable:
Displaced families who have lost everything.
Mothers and children who have gone days without food.
Elderly and the sick who are too weak to find aid.
Widows and orphans with no one left to support them.
Each hot meal is donated to someone unable to source adequate food.
How MATW Delivers Relief
Our dedicated field teams and partners in Gaza and Lebanon work under extreme conditions to prepare and distribute hot meals daily. They work as a team, cooking meals in giant pots and packing them as fast as possible to give people their basic human right: a hot meal.
Meals are delivered through:
- Emergency community kitchens
- Local mosques and aid centers
- Refugee camps and hospitals
- Temporary shelters for displaced families
Despite the dangers, our teams remain on the ground because without their help, combined with your support, the unimaginable would happen.
